Medical Disclaimer & Therapy Information

This page contains important information about who should and should not use the therapies offered at Release Wellness Lounge. Please read it carefully before booking your first visit. If anything below applies to you, talk with your physician first — we’d rather you start safely than start fast.

Release Wellness Lounge is not a medical provider.

Release Wellness Lounge offers wellness, recovery, and lifestyle services. We do not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition. The therapies and information available through our studio, website, email communications, and educational content are intended to support general wellness, recovery, and stress management — not to replace medical care.

Nothing on this site, in our communications, or in our studio constitutes medical advice. Always consult your physician or a qualified healthcare provider for any questions about your health, before starting any new wellness practice, and especially if you have a known medical condition, are taking medications, or are pregnant or trying to become pregnant.

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room immediately. Do not contact Release Wellness Lounge for medical emergencies.

When to talk with your doctor before booking.

Some of our therapies may not be appropriate for people with certain medical conditions. Before your first visit, please consult your physician if any of the following apply to you:

  • You are pregnant, breastfeeding, or trying to become pregnant.
  • You have a cardiovascular condition, including heart disease, uncontrolled high or low blood pressure, recent heart attack, or stroke.
  • You have a pacemaker, defibrillator, or other implanted medical device.
  • You have a history of blood clots or deep vein thrombosis (DVT).
  • You have a seizure disorder or history of seizures.
  • You have a respiratory condition, including COPD or asthma that is not well controlled.
  • You have an autoimmune condition, multiple sclerosis, or lupus.
  • You have cancer or are currently undergoing cancer treatment, including chemotherapy or radiation.
  • You take prescription medications, especially blood thinners, beta blockers, diuretics, or photosensitizing drugs.
  • You have an active infection, fever, or open wounds.
  • You are recovering from recent surgery.
  • You have a history of fainting, dizziness, or low blood pressure.

This list is not exhaustive. If you have any health condition you’re uncertain about, please ask your physician before booking. Our team is also available to help you decide which therapies are most appropriate to start with — but we cannot make medical decisions on your behalf.

Considerations by therapy.

Each therapy has specific situations in which it should be avoided or used only with physician guidance. The lists below cover the most commonly cited contraindications, but they are not exhaustive. Final guidance always rests with your physician.

Cryotherapy and cold therapy

Avoid or get medical clearance first if you have: pregnancy, uncontrolled hypertension, severe cardiovascular disease, recent heart attack or stroke, Raynaud’s syndrome, cold urticaria or cold sensitivity, severe anemia, an active infection, open wounds in the exposure area, or a pacemaker or defibrillator (varies by device — confirm with your cardiologist).

Infrared sauna

Avoid or get medical clearance first if you have: pregnancy, severe cardiovascular disease, recent surgery, hemophilia or bleeding disorders, multiple sclerosis (heat sensitivity), lupus (photosensitivity), severe dehydration, an active fever or infection, or you take medications that affect heat regulation (such as diuretics or beta blockers).

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy

Avoid hyperbaric oxygen therapy if you have an untreated pneumothorax (collapsed lung). Get medical clearance first if you have: pregnancy, COPD or other significant lung disease, recent ear or sinus surgery, an active upper respiratory infection, claustrophobia, certain seizure disorders, or you are receiving chemotherapy with specific drugs that interact with oxygen therapy. Discuss your full medication list with your physician before booking.

Red light therapy

Avoid or get medical clearance first if you have: photosensitivity (whether condition-related or medication-induced), active skin cancer in the treatment area, lupus or other photosensitive autoimmune conditions, or you take photosensitizing medications. Eye protection is required during all sessions.

Contrast therapy

Combines heat and cold exposure, so all cryotherapy and infrared sauna contraindications apply. If either therapy is not appropriate for you on its own, contrast therapy is not appropriate.

Compression therapy

Avoid or get medical clearance first if you have: deep vein thrombosis (DVT) or recent history of blood clots, recent fracture or surgery in the legs, open wounds or skin infection in the treatment area, severe peripheral artery disease, severe heart failure, or active leg cellulitis.

Breathwork and meditation

Most breathwork is broadly safe, but more intensive breathwork practices (extended hyperventilation patterns or breath-hold protocols) should be approached with caution if you have: pregnancy, cardiovascular conditions, epilepsy, a history of psychosis or severe anxiety disorders, or recent surgery. We will guide you toward appropriate practices for your situation, but please share relevant medical history during intake.

Pregnancy.

Most of the therapies offered at Release Wellness Lounge are not recommended during pregnancy. Heat-based therapies (infrared sauna, hyperbaric oxygen), cold-based therapies (cryotherapy), contrast therapy, intensive breathwork, and compression therapy are typically contraindicated. Some less-intensive practices may be appropriate with your obstetrician’s clearance.

If you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, we ask that you consult with your obstetrician before booking and that you disclose your pregnancy during intake. We will follow your physician’s guidance and our team’s training on what is appropriate.

Minors.

Guests must be 18 years of age or older to use most of our therapies independently. Specific age and supervision policies vary by therapy and will be confirmed at intake. Younger guests may be permitted for certain therapies with parental or guardian consent and physician clearance — please contact us before booking to confirm eligibility.

Our health intake process.

Before your first visit, we ask every guest to complete a brief health intake form. This is not a medical evaluation — it’s how we make sure the therapies you’re considering are reasonable for you, and how we know what to be aware of during your sessions. The intake covers basic medical history, current medications, recent surgeries, pregnancy status, and any conditions noted on this page.

All guests also sign a waiver acknowledging the inherent risks of recovery and wellness therapies, the educational (not medical) nature of our services, and the importance of having received any necessary clearance from a physician.

You can request a copy of our intake form and waiver in advance of your first visit. We’d rather you arrive prepared than feel rushed at the studio.
